For the Sauce

  • 1/4 cup Coconut Aminos or soy sauce if gluten isn't an issue
  • 1 tablespoon Maple Syrup can use honey or agave syrup
  • 2 tablespoons Rice Vinegar apple cider vinegar works well
  • 1 teaspoon Sesame Oil may be omitted
  • 1 tablespoon Arrowroot Powder or cornstarch as a replacement

For Wrapping and Garnishing

  • 1 head Boston Bibb Lettuce Leaves iceberg or butter lettuce can substitute
  • 2 tablespoons Sesame Seeds optional for garnish

How to Make Healthy Ground Beef Lettuce Wraps

  • Prepare the Sauce: In a bowl, whisk together coconut aminos, maple syrup, rice vinegar, sesame oil, and arrowroot powder until smooth.
  • Heat the Oil: Warm the olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Add the ground beef, breaking it apart, and cook until browned, about 5 minutes.
  • Add Aromatics: Stir in minced garlic and grated ginger, cooking for 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
  • Mix in Vegetables: Add diced bell pepper and shredded carrots, stirring until tender-crisp, about 3-4 minutes.
  • Combine Sauce with Filling: Pour the prepared sauce over the beef and vegetables, stirring well, and simmer for 2-3 minutes.
  • Prepare for Serving: Stir in sliced green onions, scoop filling into lettuce leaves, garnish with sesame seeds, and serve immediately.

Notes
