  • 1 pound lean ground beef
  • 1 pound spicy Italian sausage
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 2 sheets puff pastry, thawed
  • 1 egg (for egg wash)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and grease a baking dish with nonstick spray.
  2. In a skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef and spicy sausage until crumbly, then drain excess fat.
  3. Add the chopped onion to the meat mixture and sauté until translucent, about 5 minutes.
  4. Remove from heat and stir in half of the cheddar cheese until melted.
  5. Roll out one sheet of puff pastry into the baking dish. Fill with the meat mixture, then top with remaining cheddar.
  6. Cover with the second puff pastry sheet, sealing edges and cutting slits for steam. Brush with egg wash.
  7. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until golden brown. Allow to cool slightly before serving.
