  • 9 lasagna noodles (no-boil or traditional)
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 28 oz canned crushed tomatoes
  • 2 tsp dried oregano
  • 15 oz ricotta cheese
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • Fresh basil leaves for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and lightly grease a baking dish.
  2. In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Sauté chopped onion and minced garlic until fragrant.
  3. Add crushed tomatoes and oregano to the skillet. Simmer on low for about 10 minutes.
  4. In a bowl, combine ricotta cheese with one egg, salt, and pepper until smooth.
  5. Layer the baking dish: Spread tomato sauce at the bottom, then add noodles followed by half of the ricotta mixture and shredded mozzarella. Repeat layers until ingredients are used up.
  6. Cover with foil and bake for 30 minutes; remove foil and bake for an additional 10 minutes until bubbly.
