Ingredients
Scale
3 cups all-purpose flour
2 tsp active dry yeast
1 cup warm water (100°F to 110°F)
1 cup whole milk
1 tbsp sugar
1 tsp salt
Instructions
In a small bowl, combine warm water and sugar. Sprinkle yeast over the mixture and let sit for 5 minutes until bubbly.
In a large bowl, mix flour and salt. Add the yeast mixture and warm milk, stirring until combined.
Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5 minutes until smooth.
Place the dough in an oiled bowl, cover it, and let rise in a warm spot for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
Punch down the dough and roll it out to about 1 inch thick. Cut into rounds using a biscuit cutter.
Place rounds on a cornmeal-dusted baking sheet, cover them with a towel, and let rise for another 30 minutes.
Cook on a griddle or bake at 350°F (175°C) for about 20 minutes until golden brown.
