  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy (about 3 minutes).
  3. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition, then stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. In another bowl, whisk together flour and baking powder, then gradually add it to the wet mixture until just combined.
  5. Scoop tablespoon-sized portions onto prepared sheets, spacing them apart. Bake for 10-12 minutes until edges are lightly golden.
  6. Cool completely before decorating with frosting made from powdered sugar and milk mixed with gel food coloring.
