  • 4 cups Granny Smith or Honeycrisp apples, peeled and thinly sliced
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup brown sugar (divided)
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
  • 2 large eggs

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. Toss the sliced apples with 1/2 cup brown sugar and 1 teaspoon cinnamon in a bowl. Set aside.
  3. In another bowl, combine 2 cups flour, the remaining 1/2 cup brown sugar, and salt. Cut in the cold butter until crumbly.
  4. Press two-thirds of the crumb mixture into the prepared baking dish for the crust. Bake for 15 minutes until lightly golden.
  5. Layer the spiced apple mixture over the baked crust and sprinkle with remaining crumbs.
  6. Return to the oven and bake for an additional 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
  7. Allow to cool before slicing into bars.
