  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • ¾ cup unsalted butter (softened)
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • Red and blue food coloring
  • 2 cups powdered sugar (for frosting)
  • 3 tbsp milk (for frosting)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Prepare a 9×13 inch baking dish with parchment paper or nonstick spray.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, and baking powder; set aside.
  3. In another bowl, cream softened butter until fluffy. Add eggs one at a time and mix in vanilla extract.
  4. Gradually combine dry ingredients into wet mixture until just mixed.
  5. Divide the dough into three parts: color one red, one blue, and leave one plain.
  6. Layer red dough on one side of the baking dish, blue on the other, and crumble plain dough on top.
  7. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown. Allow cooling before frosting.
  8. For frosting, mix powdered sugar with milk until smooth; spread over cooled bars and garnish with sprinkles.
