  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter (softened)
  • 4 large eggs (room temperature)
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 cups heavy whipping cream
  • ½ cup powdered sugar
  • Fresh strawberries (sliced)
  • Fresh blueberries

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease two round cake pans and line with parchment paper.
  2. In a mixing bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, beat softened butter until creamy. Gradually add sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in vanilla extract.
  5. Alternate adding dry ingredients with milk into the butter mixture; mix until just combined.
  6. Divide batter between prepared pans and bake for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown. Cool completely.
  7. Whip heavy cream with powdered sugar until soft peaks form. Frost one layer with whipped cream and top with strawberries and blueberries in flag design. Repeat with the second layer.
