Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb flank steak, thinly sliced
  • 1 cup green bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 cup onion, sliced
  • 1 cup provolone cheese, shredded
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil (plus more for frying)
  • 12 egg roll wrappers

Instructions

  1. 1. Prepare the filling: Heat 1 tbsp of vegetable oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the flank steak until browned, then set aside.
  2. 2. Sauté veggies: In the same skillet, add another tbsp of oil. Sauté onions and green peppers until soft and caramelized, about 5 minutes. Return steak to the pan.
  3. 3. Add flavor: Stir in soy sauce and cook for an additional minute. Allow the mixture to cool slightly.
  4. 4. Assemble the egg rolls: Place an egg roll wrapper on a clean surface. Spoon about 2 tablespoons of filling onto the center, fold up the bottom corner, tuck in the sides, and roll tightly.
  5. 5. Fry: Heat vegetable oil in a deep skillet or fryer to 350°F (175°C). Fry egg rolls until golden brown, about 3 minutes per side.
  6. 6. Serve: Drain on paper towels and enjoy with your favorite dipping sauces.
