Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 large sweet onion
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup panko breadcrumbs
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat the air fryer to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Peel the onion and cut off about half an inch from the top, leaving the root intact. Make vertical cuts into the onion without cutting through the root, followed by horizontal cuts to create petals.
  3. In one bowl, mix flour, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper. In another bowl, beat the eggs until frothy. Place panko breadcrumbs in a third bowl.
  4. Dip the onion into the flour mixture, then into the egg wash, and finally coat with panko breadcrumbs.
  5. Place the breaded onion in the air fryer basket. Spray lightly with oil and cook for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.
  6. Let it cool slightly before serving with your favorite dipping sauce.
