  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast (1 packet)
  • 1 cup warm milk
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter (melted)
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Dissolve yeast in warm milk with a tablespoon of sugar. Let sit for 5 minutes until frothy.
  2. In a bowl, mix flour, cocoa powder, remaining sugar, and salt. Make a well in the center; add melted butter and eggs. Pour in the yeast mixture and stir until sticky.
  3. Knead dough on a floured surface for about 8 minutes until smooth. Place in an oiled bowl, cover, and let rise for 1 hour.
  4. Punch down dough, roll into a rectangle, sprinkle with chocolate chips, and roll tightly. Cut into 12 pieces.
  5. Place rolls in a greased baking dish, cover, and let rise for another 30 minutes. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake for about 25 minutes until golden.
