Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 2 ¼ tsp active dry yeast (1 packet)
  • 1 cup warm milk (110°F/43°C)
  • ⅓ cup unsalted butter (melted)
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • ½ cup light brown sugar
  • 1 cup powdered sugar (for glaze)

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine warm milk and yeast with a pinch of sugar. Let sit for about five minutes until frothy.
  2. In another bowl, whisk together flour, granulated sugar, and salt. Gradually mix this into the yeast mixture along with melted butter. Stir until a dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about five minutes until smooth.
  4. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it, and let rise in a warm place for about one hour or until doubled in size.
  5. Punch down the dough and roll it out into a rectangle about half an inch thick. Spread melted butter over the top and sprinkle with brown sugar mixed with cinnamon.
  6. Roll up tightly from one long edge and slice into equal pieces (about two inches wide). Place in a greased baking dish.
  7. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 25-30 minutes until golden brown. Drizzle with powdered sugar glaze before serving.
